Hey, I’m Roxy—the founder, owner, and lead stylist at Coastal Curl, where we believe your natural texture is something to celebrate, not struggle with. When I’m not behind the styling chair, you’ll find me crate-digging for old vinyls, chasing down Oakland’s best food pop-ups, or obsessing over the perfect cup of herbal tea.

I started Coastal Curl in 2020 because, honestly? I was over it— over leaving most salons feeling invisible and unheard, over the hours of DIY hair experiments, and sooo over battling with my own curls like they were the enemy. After years of frustration juggling demanding tech jobs and a head full of untamed hair, I did what any curly girl on the edge would do: I pivoted. Hard. Three years after earning my B.A. from Stanford University (c/o 2016), I enrolled at the Cinta Aveda Institute to get licensed and create the space I desperately needed but couldn’t find…. a salon where textured hair is the main event, not an afterthought!

But this isn’t just about hair. It’s about identity. Learning to love my curls was like learning to love myself—the wild, the unruly, the beautifully imperfect parts. That journey changed my life, and now I get to help others find that same magic: the moment when you stop fighting your natural hair and start seeing it for what it really is— your “hairitage” — a crown, a canvas, a cherished part of you.
